   Malappuram District was formed on 16th of June 1968. The Nilgiris of Tamil Nadu in the east, Arabian sea in the west, Kozhikode and Wayanad District in the north and Palakkad and Trissur Districts are in the south boundaries of the District. The district has a geographical area of 3550 Sq. KMs which is 9.13 % of the total area of the State. With regard to area, Malappuram District rank 2nd in the state.
